Night of the Living Dead

On Tuesday October 1st, 1968 Night of the Living Dead premiered in Pittsburgh, PA at the Fulton Theater.

Written, directed, photographed and edited by George A. Romero and co-written by John Russo.

Starring Duane Jones and Judith O’Dea.

The following Friday it was released nationwide and was shown as a Saturday matinee, as was typical for horror movies at the time.

After a nation of young children were traumatized for life the film found a more appropriate time slot during midnight showings.

It would be the first cartoon to air Primetime on Friday nights at 8:30pm.

It is the second most successful and longest running animated series behind the Simpsons.

One of my earliest memories is of racing up the front yard and into the house with my aunt as evening fell to watch The Flintstones.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

On September 28th 1987, Star Trek TNG Season 1 premiered in broadcast syndication.

One thing I found amusing upon recently re-watching season 1 was the hydraulic lift.

I think in the beginning the almighty network was not yet convinced that TNG was going to be a financial success. It showed in wardrobe and sets in comparison to later seasons.

So they had this lift in engineering. You can tell it cost a bit of money. I swear every single crew member was on that damn lift at some point during the pilot.
