I will never not laugh at this.

Mel Brooks discovered that the designer of the laboratory sets for the original Universal Frankenstein films was still alive and living in Los Angeles.

Frankenstein’s Laboratory

Ken Strickfaden had stored all of the old equipment in his garage. Brooks made a deal with Strickfaden to rent the equipment for the new movie and gave him the credit he didn’t receive for the original films.

Yep. That’s Lutz all right.

The “Edward Scissorhands” house recently went up for sale. A local couple was chosen from a viral list of potential buyers from around the world. The couple are fans of the movie with the gentleman actually working on set washing dishes. They are in the process of turning the house into a shrine and museum of sorts.

It appears as if they are running into a few legal issues and have a gofundme set up for legal fees. You can find them on TikTok or Instagram at “officialscissorland”.

All Star Party for Burt Reynolds

On December 13th, 1981, Burt Reynolds All Star Party aired as a Special Presentation on CBS.

Celebrating 25 years in acting.

All the ladies sang to him and all the men told carefully curated gags about his low key, high profile serial womanizing.

The most fascinating part is the amazing star power you can see in the background audience.

CBGB Opens Its Doors for the First Time

On December 10, 1973, Hilly Kristal’s biker bar at 315 Bowery in Manhattan’s East Village became CBGB OMFUG (Country, BlueGrass and Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers).

Although his original vision for the club of country, bluegrass and blues didn’t come to fruition it did become a lightning rod for the protopunk and punk movement in New York City.

Bands such as the Patti Smith Group, Television, Blondie and the Talking Heads got started there.

The Ramones played their first official show at CBGB in August of 1974 and then went on to play there almost every other day for the remainder of that year.
