On January 27th, 1995, Before Sunrise was released in US theaters. It had premiered a week previous at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke and written and directed by Richard Linklater. Also co-written by Kim Krizan, who had previously appeared in Linklater’s Slacker (1990) and Dazed and Confused (1993). Once Delpy and Hawke were cast they added additional, uncredited rewrites.

The story was inspired by a meeting that Linklater had with a women in Philadelphia in 1988. It was a chance meeting that led to an evening of strolling around the city conversing about different topics. Unbeknownst to Linklater until 2010 the women died shortly after this meeting in a motorcycle accident.
