The Day After

On November 20th, 1983, The Day After premiered on ABC.

The movie coldly and methodically showed us what the aftermath of a nuclear exchange would be like.

More than 100 million people tuned in.

The movie even aired in communist Russia 3 years later during negotiations with the US for the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.

The movie so moved President Reagan and other lawmakers that it may have helped to facilitate the eventual signing of the treaty.
