Vic Mizzy

 Vic Mizzy was born on January 9th, 1916.

Throughout the 30’s and 40’s Mizzy wrote many songs including Doris Day’s 1945 hit “My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time”.

From the 60’s into the 70’s he began work in television and film including The Addams Family and Green Acres themes and the scores for a string of Don Knotts movies.

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)

He wrote an anti-jaywalking public service jingle that featured his daughter (and singer/songwriter) Patty Keeler on vocals. The song was later covered on the They Might Be Giants childrens album No! (2002). The track is sung by TMBG’s John Flansburgh’s wife, Robin Goldwasser.

Wendy Carlos

Wendy Carlos was born on November 14th, 1939. 

The reclusive, transgender composer and electronic music pioneer has worked with Stanley Kubrick on scores for A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. 

Earlier albums bore the title of her given name. 

She collaborated with “Weird Al” Yankovich on a comical adaptation of Peter and the Wolf.
