On March 27th, 1987 the band U2 closed down a section of downtown Los Angeles and performed a short concert on the rooftop of the Republic liquor store on 7th st. And S. Main st.
The event was planned to shoot a video for the song Where the Streets Have No Name and was a reference to the Beatles last live performance which was also set on a rooftop in Central London.
As with the Beatles event, too many people showed up and was shut down by the man (as hoped).
