CBGB Opens Its Doors for the First Time

 On December 10, 1973, Hilly Kristal’s biker bar at 315 Bowery in Manhattan’s East Village became CBGB OMFUG (Country, BlueGrass and Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers).

Although his original vision for the club of country, bluegrass and blues didn’t come to fruition it did become a lightning rod for the protopunk and punk movement in New York City.

Cat People (1942)

 On December 5th, 1942, Cat People premiered in New York City at the Rialto Theater. 

It was released regionally the next day and nationwide 20 days later on Christmas Day.

A Boy Named Charlie Brown

On December 4th, 1969, A Boy Named Charlie Brown was released in US theaters. 

It is the first animated version of the Peanuts comic strip.
