Turn-On

 On February 5th, 1969, the sketch comedy show, Turn-On premiered on ABC at 8:30pm EST. Created by Ed Friendly and George Schlatter, the producers of Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In. Among the cast was Teresa Graves, who would soon join Laugh In. Tim Conway was the guest host.

 The show was pulled from the air after the first commercial break by most affiliates for “excessive poor taste” and viewer complaints.  One station played a black screen while playing live organ music. It was an emergency protocol that hadn’t been used by the station for 20 years.

The Beatles Last Stand

 On January 30th, 1969, The Beatles performed live on the rooftop of the Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Seville Row in Central London.

For some reason people complained and the police shut them down after 42 minutes. 

The Beatles Last Live Performance

Although Abbey Road had yet to be released this would be the last live performance of The Beatles. 

In 1987, U2 performed a similar stunt in Los Angeles to film a video for the song Where the Streets Have No Name.
