Eric Red’s original script was 190 pages long and reportedly packed full of murder, gore and sex. Like eyeballs in burgers type stuff. Let’s all takes a moment to consider what that might have been like on the screen.

It spawned a direct to DVD sequel, The Hitcher II, I’ve Been Waiting in 2003 (with C. Thomas Howell returning) and a remake in 2007.
