Hell’s Bells (1929)

On November 21st, 1929, Walt Disney released the animated short Hell’s Bells. 

It is the 4th in a series of 75 animated musical shorts entitled Silly Symphonies. 


The accompanying music used throughout the majority of the short is Funeral March of a Marionette by French composer Charles Gounod. This piece of music would later be used as the theme for the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

The voice of Satan is provided by Walt Disney himself.

The Skeleton Dance

 
The Skeleton Dance was released on August 20th, 1929.


This Danse macabre inspired animated short was the first of the Silly Symphony series directed and produced by Walt Disney.
