The Day After

 On November 20th, 1983, The Day After premiered on ABC. 

The movie coldly and methodically showed us what the aftermath of a nuclear exchange would be like. 

More than 100 million people tuned in. 

The movie even aired in communist Russia 3 years later during negotiations with the US for the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. 

The movie so moved President Reagan and other lawmakers that it may have helped to facilitate the eventual signing of the treaty.

Salem’s Lot


On November 17th, 1979 part one of Salem’s Lot premiered as a TV miniseries on CBS.

Directed by Tobe Hooper and based on the book by Stephen King.
