Dracula’s Daughter (1936)

 Dracula’s Daughter was released in US theaters on May 11th, 1936.

A sequel to Dracula (1931) starring Bela Lugosi and Helen Chandler

Directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Gloria Holden and featuring 
Edward Van Sloan as the only returning cast member from the original film. 


The script was possibly based on a deleted chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula written in 1897. It was published in 1914 after Stoker’s death as a short story entitled “Dracula’s Guest”.

It is also said that it could be loosely based on a gothic novella from 1872 entitled “Carmilla” written by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. 


Followed by Son of Dracula (1943) directed by Robert Siodmak and starring Lon Chaney, Jr.

Dracula (1931)

 On February 14th, 1931, Dracula was released nationwide in US theaters. 

Directed by Tod Browning. 

Two direct sequels would be produced:

Dracula’s Daughter (1936) directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Gloria Holden and featuring Edward Van Sloan as the only returning cast member from the original film.

Son of Dracula (1943) directed by Robert Siodmak and starring Lon Chaney, Jr.

Gloria Holden


Gloria Holden was born on September 5th, 1903.


Best known for her role as Countess Marya Zaleska in “Dracula’s Daughter” (1936) a direct sequel to Dracula starring Bela Lugosi
